The Joint: High on the Hog in New Orleans

New Orleans is known for a lot of things: The French Quarter, Jazz, St. Charles Avenue. Barbeque does not usually top the list. But a hand full of restaurants are trying to change that. One of my personal favorites is The Joint. Opened in 2004 by Pete and Jenny Breen, The Joint is located off the beaten path, in the Bywater neighborhood of New Orleans. The Joint was featured in Bon Appetit’s 2009 Top 10 New Barbecue Restaurants and featured in an episode of Guy Fieri’s Diner’s, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food Network (March, 2008).

The menu features barbeque mainstays including pulled pork, beef brisket, ribs, mac and cheese, and cole slaw. While you’re there enjoy a few tunes from the Wurlitzer jukebox or sit in the sun in the backyard. No matter where you sit or what you order, one thing is for sure: You won’t leave hungry.
